Im happy to say I've finally fiinished the Dragonfly painting,earlier on in August.
My friend just loved it!! It really makes it all worth while when the paintings I do have such a positive affect on people....the happiness is reciprocated...from God- to me -to you- to me -to God..if that makes any sense! Thanks T for letting me do this one for you!!

After the completion of the Dragonfly, I have been going through tons of reference pictures and searching the internet looking for inspiration ,and I must say, I have tons of "ideas", but as fast as they come, they just disappear. So I have been writing things down when they pop in my head. I am working on a theme which is etherial,romantic and with a bit of fantasy in there as well. Very much with a pre-raphaelite feel to it.. In the meantime, I have decided to take on a master study,to get me warmed up- after JW Waterhouse, who is one of my favourites.
I will post more as soon as I have put some solid hours into the study.
So for now, its back to the drawing board...to get the juices flowing!

Ive just stretched a new canvas 24"x24" for a friend of mine...
This is going to be one of a Dragonfly, where I have taken tons of photos , and she has chosen her favourite one.
I just hope I can pull it off with a somewhat different technique I have in mind, using different mediums to get a varied layered effect..:) We'll see!Stay tuned!

Ok...I have to get in a little bit of PA...I have been Busy getting ready for the Riverwalk Art Festival, Milton Florida, where I will have some of my artwork showing...Here are a couple of small paintings that will be there...
If you are in the area, check it out..There is plenty to be seen and activities for the little ones...

Update...Did the Reiverwalk Art festival..it was a pretty good turnout...THe weather was beautifulll but HOT!!! Had a fun time, and met some cool people!!

I have been busy with my garden...Loving the warmer weather here in Florida. Watching the birds and soaking up nature....speaking of nature and its beauty-
I am really concerned about the state of the oil spill going on at the moment..to the point that I was losing sleep over it....It is devastating. I can't even fathom the amount of damage it has done/will do. Hoping and Praying that the mess gets cleared up ASAP...AMEN!!

1. 4b & 2b pencils and pearl eraser.
2. Clear ruler.
3. Odorless hairspray (in can) or artists fixative
4. Painters rags or paper towels
5. Odorless mineral spirits , 2 small glass jars/with lids to hold mineral spirits or plastic containers to hold water in.
6. Palette of choice or pallet box –recommended. (can use a large flat square Tupperware like container)
7. Easel-small portable
8. Canvas or panel board. (preferably no smaller than 12x16)
9. Brushes- Round, Filbert and Flat--#2, #4, #6, #10
10. Palette Knife
11. Picture you would like to paint of your choice

Getting back into it

Ti-Tree Waterfalls. "Work in progress"

After a short hiatus from painting and blogging, and some procrastinating, I figured it was time to get moving again. Here are a couple of small paintings I've been working on recently, and both are still works in progress.
The waterfall is located in Australia-in my brothers backyard, which is to the side at the bottom of a gully. The sound of water splashing down over the rocks, the sweet fresh air, the beautiful lush bush and the unique mimicking songs of the Lyre bird-
is so relaxing and magical...it is a real treat to your senses.

The pretty pink Rhododendrons below- or commonly known as Azaleas, can be found almost anywhere in the world. These ones in particular, were from a photograph I took outside the Dragonfly Gallery, located in Milton, Florida, which is where I have some artwork hanging at the moment.
They are so delicate in shape and each flower seems to have its own uniqueness in itself. From the shapes of the petals to the intensity of pink in each petal.
They remind me of the beautiful illustrations of May Gibbs and Pixie O'Harris -which were books Mum would read to my sister and I when we were little....

Another 10x10 painting, on gallery wrapped fine linen canvas.

Painting this little ladies face was a bit difficult, being that the image is so small. I took a deep breath and went with the flow...and this is the end result...I think it worked out ...

"Wave" 11.16"/13x8"

Just need to clean up the edges and then it's done. It amazing and sometimes alarming to me, the forces of nature. I hope I conveyed the energy force building up this wave.....This is a different view of a wave- as per my reference photo.

In magazines and on tv, one usually sees the wave breaking towards you.. making the base/crest of the wave deeper/shallower, forming different look altogether. Oh the joys of perspective! SURFS UP!

note: This image came out with more blues in it than the original painting which has more colour variation of greens and blues...

I figured Id post something, seeing that I have slacked off..which is an ongoing theme for me...hmmm...Anyway, I have been working on another piece , as well as the daily chores of being a mum...that aside, this painting contains the element of water. My favourite. Espescially in the hot Summer months!!

Feeling the urge to find something different that is interesting, uplifting , inspiring and all those kinds of things.

I dream of swimming...maybe the next one will be of swimming? I love seeing the clouds in the sky...and all the brilliant colours of sunsets....

I'm back from a week away at Disney World and have been busy with VBS (vacation bible school) in the crafting area, and also the daily stuff ...So, I haven't worked on the "other animal" painting I started before I left... Hopefully things will settle down a bit, and I can get back into it!
Update..VBS was a hoot...seeing all the little kids being creative ..it was sooo much fun!!

Ok, this was painted over a few days...which more than likely added up to a days work.
Not bad for an old footless chook! (his feet are in the grass!)

I have been contemplating whether or not to do a particular series , which I initially had thought about last year, but never did take any action...on the other hand, I also have a great reference pic of a green tree frog that I plan on painting...as well as various flowers. Decisions , decisions....

I had zapped my computer, and just got it back up...In the meantime while waiting for the pc to be fixed I almost finished a rooster painting...Its not quite done yet...Just need to get his feet in...

This was painted from a photo, where I manipulated the leaves in the background and enlarged the focus point-the main flower, and added the darker prussian blue, to give it depth... It took me a day..I am late posting again...I had several things crop up that I had to attend to.....oh well ...better late than never!

I managed to stretch a few canvases and last night I started another floral...its coming along nicely....but I think I'm still stuck in the same mode...maybe that is my style? Who knows....stay tuned for pics...

I am really trying to stretch myself in the way I use colour and bolder brushstrokes...(I might even get more accomplished too!) kinda out of the norm for me. So the plan is to have more of a visual play on the eye...but i am a person with old habits...so hopefully I can break out of the mold, and think outside the box.
